A LINDISFARNE legend will join judges for a top regional song competition.

Ray Laidlaw will be joining BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown and North East comedian Brendan Healy on the judging panel for the Woodhorn Museum Grace Darling Song Competition.

Entries for the competition for a new song relating to Grace Darling, the 19th century sea rescue heroine from Northumberland are starting to roll in, but would-be writers and composers have until September 14 to take part.

The song can be of any genre, must be less than four minutes long and entries can be from individuals and groups.

Up to six of the new songs will be broadcast during the three-week tour of a play about Grace Darling called, Amazing Grace, which can be seen at the Gala theatre, Durham on October 24 and 25.
