SHOP staff celebrated their store’s first anniversary with a fancy dress charity bash.
Employees at the Wilkinson’s store, in The Galleries, Washington, decked themselves out as Disney characters for the combined birthday party and fund-raiser in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
The first 100 shoppers through the tills received a free party bag, containing shower gels, colouring books, drinks, sweets and a body loofah, while the the life-saving group’s mascot, Miles the Pilot Bear, entertained the crowds.
Year Five pupils from Barmston Village Primary School created colourful pictures to mark the milestone.
Store manager Wendy Gray said: “We felt the best way to mark the occasion was to host a fund-raiser for the GNAAS. That way, we could all celebrate together and raise funds for a worthy cause.”
Mandy Drake, head of fund-raising at the GNAAS, said: “We’re very grateful to the store.”
