Wearside IT firm in £8m deal

A WEARSIDE IT firm has been snapped up by a nationalt newspaper group in an £8million deal.

Trinity Mirror – which publishes the Daily Mirror and Sunday People – has bought Communicator Corp, part of the Rainton Bridge-based Leighton Group.

Communicator Corp specialises in providing email and mobile communications in more than 30 languages across almost 180 countries.

Trinity mirror chief executive Sly Bailey said: “The addition of Communicator Corp to our stable of digital assets will enhance our offering and complement the digital marketing services currently offered by Rippleffect.

“Personalisation and targeted content are increasingly sought after by marketers in a multi-channel world and Communicator Corp is recognised in the industry for its ability to meet this demand.”

A Trinity Mirror spokesman said there were no plans to move Communicator Corp from its Wearside base.

Communicator Corps managing director Chris Wilds, who will remain with the Wearside business, said: “We’re delighted to be joining Trinity Mirror as it will position us for a successful future.”
