North East training specialist Maersk is holding a series of courses for people looking to work in the off-shore energy sector.

The firm is running Global Wind Organisation-approved Basic Safety Training weekend courses.

Managing director Stuart Cameron said: “This course is perfect for people who do not have the time to retrain and already have transferable skills such as an electrical or mechanical engineering background.

“Because this qualification is compulsory, we want to make the course as accessible as possible so more people can begin exciting new careers in the wind industry.”

The courses are: First Aid, October 3-4; Manual Handling (AM) GWO Fire Awareness (PM) October 10; Work at Height and Rescue, October 17-18; Sea Survival,October 24-25, and CCNSG Safety Passport, October 31-November 1.
