Talks over pubs deal

REPORTS that about 300 jobs have been saved with a deal to buy a collapsed Wearside leisure firm are premature.

Principle Leisure, which operates venues including Establishment in Sunderland and Fiume Italian restaurant and River Bar in Fatfield, Washington, called in administrators last month after running up a hefty tax bill.

Reports had suggested property firm DAV Developments had sealed an agreement to buy the three companies in the Principle Leisure Group.

But administrator Begbies Traynor said that, while negotiations were still under way, no agreement had yet been reached.
