APPRENTICE star Katie Bulmer-Cooke has been back to school.

Fitness entrepreneur Katie – who left the BBC1 show last week – offered a group of Durham students the inside line on setting up their own business.

She spent more than an hour with business students from New College Durham, talking them through her progress from Sunderland University to TV stardom.

Even though he fired her last week, Lord Sugar praised the former Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business award winner, calling her “Miss Common Sense” and “a good organiser.”

Katie, whose Little Black Dress website has customers around the world, was delighted with the response from the students to yesterday’s talk.

“I had a really good time and the students were lovely,” she said. “They were all saying they had been inspired to set up in business, which is great.

“I think a lot of them didn’t realise I had had my own business since I was 16 or 17 and they were thinking, ‘Well, if you can do that, we can do the same.’

“They were interested in hearing about The Apprentice, but what was great was they were all interested in setting up their own business as well.”
