Sunderland pubs under new ownership

TWO Wearside venues are in new hands.

Oddies in Millfield, and Destination in Sunderland city centre, have been acquired by experienced operators in the city after being marketed by North East property agent Christie and Co.

Both are to be retained and developed as licensed premises. Mark Worley, associate director of Christie and Co in Newcastle, said the sale of the two venues was a good sign for the city’s economy.

He said: “Destination had been closed since early 2012 and was formerly a nightclub, whilst Oddies traded as a ‘locals’ pub with a good reputation. It is very encouraging to see both sites sell for existing use purposes.”

The acquisitions of Oddies and Destination are the latest of a series of pub sales handled by Christie and Co, in Sunderland, including The Ivy House, Saltgrass, The Dene and Vane Arms.
