Sunderland furniture giant ScS is looking forward to turning 100.
The sofa and carpet specialist has announced it will be opening three new stores on Boxing Day, taking the firm to a total of 100 shop units across the UK.
The company is investing around £1million in each of the three new outlets, which are opening in Edinburgh, Plymouth and Thanet in Kent.
Chief executive David Knight said: "We are looking forward to bringing the ScS offering to even more people and finally reaching 100 stores after years of hard work and dedication.
Our new openings and investments throughout the UK means more people can look forward to exploring the fantastic value and choice we have in-store including sofas, recliners, corner groups and more, as well as a great range of carpets, rugs and flooring.
"We are also thrilled to be able to generate a range of exciting and rewarding career opportunities, in a mixture of sales, management and administration support roles which we are currently recruiting for."
The new ScS in Plymouth will be the company's first in the South West of England, a region which is key to its expansion and growth going forwards, and a demonstration of the furniture retailer’s plans to target all areas of the UK. The addition of the Thanet and Straiton stores goes on to reinforce and strengthen the company’s position in their retrospective regions.
All three sites have been strategically picked to ensure they are demographically suited to the ScS customer base.
More than 40 jobs have been created including sales managers, sales professionals, and branch admin and manager roles across all stores, with current vacancies still available.
The company is already planning exciting events to take place at the stores as well as a celebration of its 100th store launching. More details of which will be confirmed nearer the time.
ScS currently has 97 stores nationwide from as far north as Aberdeen right down to Southampton.
The group employs more than 1,800 people nationwide with stores in North East and North West England, Yorkshire, the Midlands, South East and South West England, Scotland, Wales and London, as well as 10 distribution centre sites across the UK.
