WEARSIDE workers did wonders at a care centre’s garden after answering a call for help.
Staff from Lloyds Banking Group Contact Centre, based in Sunderland, dropped in to the Alzheimer’s Society day care centre at Alexandra Lodge, in Hebburn, at the weekend as part of the national Give And Gain Day.
Give And Gain Day is a national volunteering event managed by Business in the Community, and this year more than 35,000 volunteers across 24 countries took part.
Workers gave the garden a make-over, including cleaning and planting and adding a lick of paint to an ornamental windmill.
Gary Hope, customer treatment manager, was joined by team members Lisa Healy, Chris Henry, Simon Milton,Leanne Davies, Alison Mcloughlin, Denise Smith and Tom Willis, all getting their green fingers dirty for a helping of horticulture.
Lisa Healy, from the Sunderland contact centre, said: “The garden at Alexandra Lodge needed a bit of a tidy and we are delighted to help out. The Alzheimer’s Society is close to all our hearts. Most people have been affected by dementia in some way.”
Businesses who pledged their support on the day were age UK, Sintons, Fusion, Ward Hadaway, Royal Mail, Siemens, AF Blakemore Gates, Grainger, DWF, Pentair and Watson & Burton.
