TAVISTOCK Leisure boss Mark Hird is getting his skates on for another crack at Portfolio awards glory ahead of Friday’s deadline.
He is a former runner-up and winner in our Entrepreneur of the Year category, and last year his business picked up the Leisure award, while son Charlie was commended in the Young Business section for his rarebreed park.
“During the recession, we didn’t really go in for awards, we just viewed our business as a matter of battening down the hatches and keeping our heads down,” said Mark.
“But last year, we decided to have a go and it was a wonderful feeling to win.
“It is a lovely accolade and it means you are being recognised for the hard work that everybody has put in over the year – we’ve got 229 employees within Tavistock Leisure – so it was great to win.
“We will definitely be entering again this year.”
Categories include: Small Business (up to 10 employees); Medium Business (11–50 employees); Large Business (over 50 employees); Employer of the Year; Employee of the Year; Technology; New Business (under two years); Special Community Award; Green Business; Training; Export; Leisure and Creative Industries.
Entering the awards is free, but you’ll need to get a move on – the deadline is this Friday.
