Two new deals have been secured for The Galleries shopping centre in Washington.
Boots Opticians has opened opposite the main Boots store and Betfred will begin trading at the centre later this year. Both deals were secured by M&G Real Estate, one of the UK’s largest property investors.
Boots Opticians has taken a 1,167 sq ft store, close to the Sainsbury’s entrance to the centre, on a new ten year lease at £50,000 per annum. It has opened in response to the positive trading results of the main Boots shop directly opposite over recent years.
Bookmaker, Betfred is preparing to open a new 1,008 sq ft store at the opposite end of the centre, opposite the entrance to Asda and adjacent to the large new Poundworld store which opened last summer.
These lettings take the retail space at the 540,000 sq ft Galleries Shopping Centre to 98% let by floor area, with its adjacent retail park fully let.
Chris Poole, Asset Manager, M&G Real Estate, said: "The Galleries offers a unique mix of local businesses and national operators, which combine with our two supermarket anchor stores to create a thriving hub in the heart of Washington town centre.
"The latest openings serve as evidence of the success of this combination and, with plenty of interest from other businesses looking to join the line-up, we are working hard to attract the right shops for more new brands and businesses for Washington town centre."
