Puffing Billy replica on tour

A REPLICA engine, built in honour of one which toured a holiday park, is going out on the road as the resort is honoured on the 30th anniversary of its closure.

South Hetton businessman Ian Morrell recreated the Puffing Billy in homage to the original, which was used to carry people around the Butlins camp in Filey.

Ian, who runs North Eastern Mobility, and his friend Dave Atkin, an ex-Redcoat, will leave the village on Friday and call in at Seaton Carew, Redcar, Whitby, then Scarborough, Whitby and Filey seafront and then the John Paul Jones pub in the town, where the camp stood, on Saturday.
