Office built from old shipping containers

WEARSIDE enterprise agency Sustainable Enterprise Strategies (SES) has a green new home.

Builder Clugston Construction has completed work on a £1.2million building – made from 37 used shipping containers, adapted and reconditioned – to create a three-storey complex in Mowbray Road that will house SES staff members and offer start up accommodation for new businesses.

The containers were supplied by Sunderland company Waste Saving Expert, itself assisted by SES when it started.

SES director Mark Heskett Saddington said: “We chose this unusual method of construction because it’s sustainable and appropriate.

“SES is committed to the principle of reduce, re-use and recycle and Sunderland has a long association with shipping.”
