North East housing problems set to continue

THE housing market in the North East continues to struggle, says a new report.

The latest RICS UK Housing Market survey found that new buyer inquires fell away in March, with 26 per cent more surveyors reporting falls in demand.

Prices also continued to edge downward across the area, as 15 per cent more surveyors reported falls rather than rises in prices.

Paul McSkimmings, RICS spokesperson of Edward Watson Associates, said: “Overall market confidence is still fragile with many potential buyers deciding not to move at all, as they remain concerned over uncertainty regarding their long-term employment prospects.”
