PLANS have been approved for an extra shop to be built as part of a £35million leisure park.

The non-food retail unit will be part of the supermarket to be constructed as part of the phase two expansion of Dalton Park, in Murton.

The scheme will create an additional 14 jobs on top of the 500 expected to be generated by the food store, hotel, restaurants, five-screen cinema and petrol station.

The plan, put in by Peveril Securities and Dalton Park, was approved by Durham County Council.

The team behind it believes the jobs it will offer will be ideal for those who find it difficult to get on to the employment ladder.
