A NEW company has been created in South Tyneside to provide critical medical gas services to hospitals regionally and nationally.
Opus Medigas, based in Boldon Business Park, will design, supply and install medical gas delivery systems needed to get medical gas to patients in hospitals, dental surgeries, care homes and other health centres.
The company was launched late last year by directors Gavin Richardson and Bryan Wood-Laine, and is already ahead of projected sales with an order bank growing daily.
Bryan has had a successful career in sales, helping and advising health and laboratory establishments across the North of England.
Bryan is excited by what he sees as a bright future for the company.
He said: “Because of my reputation and experience, I have excellent working relationships across the health sector.”
Gavin added: “Bryan’s knowledge base will provide a totally-aligned approach that will get major projects delivered much quicker and more efficiently than the established competition.
“We can also help drive costs down by utilising a range of specialist suppliers rather than just one, therefore allowing Medigas to provide a more agile solution in an area where timing can be so important.”
The company has already completed three projects and has further work in the pipeline throughout the region and beyond.
Gavin added: “We’re hopeful of getting pre-qualified status on the London NHS framework which could lead to plenty of work – our long-term strategy is national rather than regional.”
The new company will supply any of the medical equipment needed to get a range of gases to patients in medical settings or to laboratories where similar gases are used.
Gavin is managing director of Opus Building Services, a specialist electrical and mechanical contractors which provides specialist heating and plumbing services across a range of sectors including: hospitals, education, general offices and residential.
“Opus Building Services is the core business, but through the work that we do in different sectors, I’ve identified opportunities in other areas and created businesses with key, talented individuals like Bryan,” explained Gavin.
