PLANS for a multimillion-pound cinema and restaurant development in Washington have received support from the public, according to the developer.

The proposals for a nine-screen cinema and up to six restaurants, which would create dozens of jobs at The Galleries, went on display over the weekend.

M&G Real Estate say more than 1,600 people viewed the exhibition, in Wessington Square, and hundreds left feedback forms.

Retail development manager Andrew Dakin said support had been “tremendous”.

“We are now taking time to carefully review the feedback before the submission of a planning application in the coming weeks,” he said.

“We’re very excited about this new opportunity for Washington, and I would like to thank the hundreds of people who came along over the weekend.”

The plans will remain on display, and feedback can be left at the exhibition or until July 22.
