An award-winning company is looking to take on more staff as it continues its incredible success story.
More positions are likely to be created at Expert Tooling &Automation which won the Overall Business of the Year honour at last year’s Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards.

It will increase full-time staff at the business, which is based on the Rainton Bridge Industrial Estate and also Armstrong Industrial Estate in Washington.
Turnover is also expected to soar this year, and operations director Dave Bartell said: “It is down to extra work. We are getting more orders and we are getting bigger orders.”
Expert is an automation engineering services company that undertakes automation and tooling projects locally, nationally and globally.
As well as Rainton Bridge, it has a site in Coventry and belongs to the Expert Group.
The vast majority of its current work in within the UK but Mr Bartell added: “A big focus in the next year is to do a lot more in Europe. We certainly can make inroads into that.”
Alongside the employment and turnover boost, the firm has also moved to its impressive new hi-tech base at Rainton Bridge in the last year.
Mr Bartell said: “It gives customers a better perception of us as a business. It is high end and it gives a good impression.
“It is a nice workplace for the workforce and they are buoyed by that.
“It also means we have to raise our game. We have got the facilities and the infrastructure and we need to deliver on that.”
The growth of Expert in the North East has been astonishing. Winning the Business of the Year award, as well as the Best Training Provider title at the 2015 Portfolio Awards, meant a lot to the business.
“Training is something we are passionate about, as well as upskilling our workforce,” said Mr Bartell. “That is why we entered the Best Training Provider category.”
But an added bonus was winning the overall title as the best business in the Wearside area.
“When the final award of the night was announced, it was a huge surprise to us, me personally and the team around me,” he added. “I had a graduate and an apprentice with me at the time and it was very encouraging.
“People do see this. The awards are something that is talked about in the North East. People still mention it even now and, without a shadow of a doubt, we support the awards and would encourage other companies to enter.
“Over the last couple of years, it has generated success stories and it has been good for our business.
“The success stories are businesses that people can look up to and people can recognise.”
