A DEVELOPER behind a £10million regeneration scheme is signing up tenants.

Merseyside-based Verum Victum won planning permission in the summer from Sunderland City Council for a new food store, retail and office development at a rundown area in North Hylton Road.

The firm is pushing ahead with plans for a “new local centre” for the area, on the old car dealership site.

Project manager Roy Kenny said: “The former Jennings Motor Group site has been an eyesore for many years.

“Our development will not only improve the facilities available to nearby residents, but will also create a significant number of full and part-time jobs.

“We are delighted the council had the vision and foresight to see the huge benefits this development would bring to the community of North Hylton.”
