Women in the North East will spend seven hours and £67 searching for the perfect Christmas party outfit, a new survey has revealed.
Research suggests it takes women seven hours, eight websites and shops, three different options and £67 before they find the perfect outfit for Christmas celebrations
With preparations for the festive season well underway, women in the region are on the hunt for an outfit perfect for everything from the office shindig to a New Year’s Eve blowout.
A study by TopCashback.co.uk, released today, reveals just what it takes for women to find the ultimate Christmas party ensemble.
Three-quarters of women in the North East will be buying a new outfit this year, specifically to wear to Christmas get-togethers throughout December.
The most popular occasion for something new is the office party (65 per cent), followed by Christmas Day (60 per cent), New Year’s Eve (41 per cent) and friends and family birthday (26 per cent). 15 per cent women even set aside a new outfit for a Boxing Day night out.
The search started in November for the majority of women. However, 27 per cent admitted to looking as early as October.
Over seven hours searching, women trawl, on average, through eight different websites and shops. The majority will buy three options before deciding on the final outfit, which will cost roughly £67.
Why do women put so much effort into searching for a new outfit?
More than a quarter (27 per cent) won’t re-wear a Christmas party dress for fear of being seen in the same outfit twice, while 14 per cent are afraid of being tagged in photos on social media.
Other key findings reveal:
Almost two-third (62 per cent) of women in the North East prefer to shop online for their Christmas party outfit
62 per cent of women say they buy more than one option and then return the ones that don’t suit.
