THE amount of homes sold in the North East over the past three months reached its highest level since March 2010.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) said its members sold on average 16 properties during the three months to May.
While still low compared to the market peak six years ago, it represents the highest reading for the region in three years.
The RICS also believes home sales are expected to continue to rise over the next three months.
The organisation said a key driver behind this jump in activity is the recent increase in buyers testing the market.
