STRUGGLING high street chain Game, which has stores on Wearside, has announced it must close 60 stores by next year.
The company has already said it is to shut 35 of its stores and merge two websites.
Thousands of jobs have been put at risk as the video game retailer applied for an administrator to be appointed.
It is not known if Game stores in Sunderland and Washington are affected.
Game, which has 1,274 stores and employs 10,000 people – 6,000 in the UK, where it has 600 stores – has been hit by a shift in customers shopping at supermarkets and online.
