A BUSINESS is celebrating its 10th year of trading with a record turnover and the recruitment of eight new staff – thanks to going green.

HLA Services Ltd, whose client base includes Harvey Nichols, Newcastle International Airport and Caterpillar UK, has ended its last financial year with its highest ever turnover of more than £8million.

In the last three months, it has recruited eight full-time staff, increasing its total workforce to more than 90 full-time staff, including five apprentices.

The firm, which specialises in facilities management, has seen high demand for green and energy-efficient products such as biomass boilers, solar panels and energy-efficient lighting.

Service director Neil Henry said: “Green energy has become increasingly popular over recent years, and many of our clients have made the move to become more energy efficient.

“I believe our wide offering of green solutions, in addition to the ability to provide all services from start to finish, has been a key factor to our success.”

Set up in 2003, HLA Services Ltd was originally located in Sunderland but in 2009 moved to larger, 5,000 sq ft premises in Boldon to accommodate its increasing workforce.

Three years ago, the firm acquired Gateshead-based Coolrite Refrigeration Ltd, allowing it to expand its services, andopened a dedicated ductwork manufacturing and fabrication facility in Washington.
