Here is a taste of what’s to come when Sunderland AFC’s Fan Zone begins to welcome supporters as the season begins at the Stadium of Light.
Bosses at the club say the new area, on the corner of Millennium Way and Stadium Way in the shadow of the ground, will make match day a bigger and better experience.
It will serve up a specially created menu by match day catering partner Centerplate already making preparations for the first home game of the season against Norwich City on Saturday, August 15.
Adrian Dishington, chief operating officer of Centerplate’s UK Division, said: “From our perspective it is about fan engagement, it’s about offering something for the fans of Sunderland, where they can arrive a bit earlier, beat the traffic, enjoy some excellent entertainment, have a drink and enjoy some food.”
Dishes will include “quality bespoke burgers”, hot dogs, Whitby scampi, Mexican chicken cone tortillas, Sunday roast sandwiches, mince and dumplings and pulled pork sundaes.
Offers will include a pie and a pint for £4 and special loyalty cards for visitors.

Fans will also be able to enjoy a range of drinks, both soft and alcoholic, with early arrival discounts will be on offer.
Terry Price, culinary director at Centerplate, said: “The Stadium of Light is our Centre of Excellence and the creation of the Fan Zone presented an excellent opportunity to add a bit more theatre to the menu.
“The two stand out additions to the menu include the pulled pork sundae; layers of mashed potato, pulled pork, onions and gravy in a cup.
“Then we have the classic British Sunday roast in a stottie, including roast chicken, small cut vegetables and roast potatoes, again with gravy in a traditional stottie.
“We will also look to adapt the menu according to the opposition team, so when Liverpool come to play, we will have scouse as a topping on the menu.”
Located on the south east corner of the stadium site, the project will create a fun environment for fans to soak up the pre and post-match matchday atmosphere and meet with fellow supporters and visiting fans.
The Fan Zone will open at noon on the day of the game and entry is free, with supporters simply required to show their 2015-16 season card or valid match ticket in order to gain access.
It will also remain open for an hour after final whistle so supporters can enjoy a post-match drink and entertainment before heading home.
Season cards are still available at the Stadium of Light, priced from £99.
Tickets for the Norwich game are also on sale online, by telephone 0871 911 1973 and from the SAFC ticket office.
