DEVELOPER Verum Victum is delighted to be supporting the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards as part of its ongoing commitment to breathing new life into the city.
The company is working on a £10million scheme to transform a vacant site at North Hylton Road which will not only create more than 200 jobs but will also bring a new resource for the community.
And as a company which is involved in creating business, it’s been a logical choice for them to support existing business in the city.
“This is the second year we’ve been involved in Portfolio,” said Roy Kenny of Verum Victum.
“They are a great way for businesses in the city to get recognised for the great work they do and we are delighted to again be sponsoring the best small business category.”
Roy revealed the company is are currently in talks with major retailers to occupy units on the site which include a leading supermarket brand and internationally renowned fast food operations.
“We are concentrating extremely hard on getting the balance of retailers right and when we are able to announce the names involved, we believe that they will provide a huge boost for the area,” he said.
“All we can say at the moment is there are some very exciting names in the frame.”
Construction is due to begin early in the spring, with the aim of being open around Easter 2014.
“The site has been vacant for several years and our aim is to create a vibrant new local centre for north west Sunderland,” said Mr Kenny,
“We anticipate that the scheme will create a significant number of jobs for local residents in a variety of flexible full and part time positions. The scheme represents a major private investment at a time of challenging economic conditions.”
The Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards 2012 will be presented in a ceremony at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, October 11, with The Apprentice’s Katie Hopkins as guest speaker. Contact Sorted PR on 265 6111 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
