AN enterprising mum is setting her stall out for business success – by proving that second hand goods needn’t be second class.

Rachel Roberts is ditching car boots for boutique by organising sales of nearly new fashion goods.

Ms Roberts, from Harden Park, Boldon Colliery, is aiming to give people the personal touch customers don’t get from buying and selling on the internet.

The 34-year-old, who is mum to Elliot, aged two, held her first Your Boutique sale in the function room of the The Pullman in Seaburn recently and is also holding similar sales offering children’s clothing in South Shields.

She said: “I wanted something a bit more upmarket than a traditional car boot sale.

“It is for clothes that you might have only worn a couple of times or got as a gift and they don’t fit, but you may want a bit more than just 50p from a car boot sale.

“We have top-brand clothing on sale, such as Reiss and Topshop.

“People came along to sell clothing for both men and women, as well as accessories such as shoes and handbags.

“I encouraged people to come along and dress up their stalls nice to fit in with the boutique theme.”Ms Roberts used her 10 years experience as a marketing manager to put the sale together.

She is hoping to host more sales in the future and feels they can offer a high quality but still good value service for buyers.
