WEARSIDE business leaders have been forced to scrap a meeting with city council leader Coun Paul Watson.

Coun Watson was due to answer questions from members of the Sunderland City Centre Traders’ Association at The Cornerflag in High Street West tomorrow evening.

But the association announced late yesterday that the plug had been pulled.

“We have had a good response, but a lot of members have indicated that they couldn’t attend this week,” said spokesman Giles McCourt.

“We didn’t want to waste the opportunity of having Coun Watson and the other council representatives available, so thought it was better to postpone to a date that more people could attend. We are hoping to reschedule for a date in October.

“We would welcome any questions members have for Coun Watson and will try to ensure any information supporting the answer is available at the rescheduled meeting.”
