Apprentice star Katie Bulmer-Cooke has welcomed plans to name and shame firms paying men more than women.
The Government is to make big companies reveal its average wage paid to male and female employees.
However, Katie, who runs a highly-successful fitness business, said bosses should be ashamed the gender pay gap was still a problem in the 21st Century.
“I think it is great that companies are being asked to be transparent,” she said.
“But surely this is something which, in 2015, we should not be talking about – it should be the case that all workers are paid according to their responsibility and skill level.
“Companies that pay men more than women for doing the same job should be thoroughly embarrassed.”
