FIFTIES icon Buddy Holly felt right at home serving customers in retro diner Lickety Split.
Visitors to the themed ice cream parlour and juice bar in Seaham had to do a double take when Buddy actor Glen Joseph served up their scoops.
He is starring in Buddy (The Buddy Holly Story) this week at the Sunderland Empire.
Sun-seekers enjoying the weather on the Seaham coast were delighted to meet the star and other cast members when they popped into the popular ice cream parlour to cool off.
Buddy and his pals picked their favourite flavours and enjoyed chatting with staff while listening to some classic rock-n-roll hits on the shop’s jukebox.
Also starring Steve Dorsett as Big Bopper, the Empire show tells the tale of Buddy’s meteoric rise to fame to his final legendary performance at The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, alongside The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens.
It includes hits That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, Rave On, Everyday, Chantilly Lace, La Bamba and more.
* Buddy is at the Sunderland Empire until Saturday. For tickets, tel 0844 871 3022.
