The city venue was judged as the Best Shopping Experience for 2015 and it is back in the running once more.

Centre director Andy Bradley said: “The fact that our shoppers have nominated us for the second year running is the icing on the cake for what has been a fantastic year at the Bridges.

“We are completely dedicated to ensuring that our customers have a great experience and this nomination shows that we are getting it right.

“Along with ensuring that every visitor to the Bridges can shop in a clean and safe environment, last year saw the arrival of a range of new retailers which makes our offering even more exciting.

“We introduced late night shopping on Thursdays to give people even more choice and we had one of our best Christmas’ with more than 2.5m shoppers through the centre.

“2015 was definitely a great year for us and now through this nomination we’ve got yet another reason to celebrate and at the same time thank all of our fantastic and loyal shoppers.”

Last year’s win came after a nomination which praised the way The Bridges was “an asset to Sunderland” and offered everything the customer needed under one roof.

This year’s nomination said: “The Bridges in Sunderland now has more shops than ever, I like that there is a good mix of independents as well as high street brands so I can get everything I need in once place.”

We want to find the best in South Tyneside and Wearside’s arts, culture, hospitality and leisure scene.

Nominations can be sent in until the deadline of February 1. After that, judges will meet to draw up a shortlist in each category.
