Bowlers are needed

Have your say

A WEARSIDE bowls club needs new members.

Washington Glebe Bowls Club wants men and women to sign up for its league games.

Club member Trevor Joicey appealed for those interested to come forward.

“At Washington Glebe, we have one of the best bowling surfaces in the area and are always looking for new players whether they have played before or not.

“We have bowls that they can borrow and all we ask is that they come with flat-soled shoes.”

Mr Joicey added that there are fitness benefits to be enjoyed from playing the sport.

“It is a good healthy outdoor exercise which is recommended for older people,” he said.

“There will be no charge for anyone who wants to try and see if they like it.

“Our men play in matches in a number of leagues and the ladies also have two leagues they play in.

“There are members who can give instruction if needed.”

The club’s green is at Grasemere Terrace, behind JFK Primary School, in Washington.
