Bookies make Sunderland slight favourites to stay up ahead of Newcastle

Sunderland have been made slight favourites to stay in the Premier League by one bookmaker as the race to beat the drop hots up.

The relegation battle looks set to go down to the wire between Newcastle and Sunderland, and as a result BoyleSports has priced up a market on which team will stay up in the Premier League.

Sunderland currently edge favouritism at 11/10 with Newcastle on offer at 6/5 and Norwich the current outsiders at 4/1 to avoid the drop.

The Black Cats occupy the remaining relegation spot, a point behind derby rivals Newcastle, but have a game in hand on the Magpies.

Liam Glynn, BoyleSports’ spokesperson said: “The battle to stay up remains tight with only two points between 17th place Newcastle and 19th place Norwich.

“At present we are seeing punters side towards Sunderland at 11/10 to stay up as both them and Norwich have an extra game in hand than the Magpies.”
