Year 11 Prom at Boldon School took place in July at Beamish Hall. Students of the Class of 2016 celebrated the completion of five years at Boldon School as they danced the evening away after enjoying a three-course meal at the Hall. The Prom committee had organised an amazing event at which Mason Thompson and Tiegan O’Neill were crowned Prom King and Prom Queen.

Cleadon Floral Arrangement Society meets on the third Tuesday of each month in All Saint’s Church Hall in Cleadon at 7.30pm. The October meeting will feature a ‘Do It Yourself’ evening at which members will arrange their flowers in a six-inch clay pot. Tickets are now on sale for the special Christmas Floral Demonstration, which will take place on Tuesday, November 15.

On Monday, November 7, there will be a school drop-in at Hedworth Lane Primary School in Boldon Colliery for parents choosing Reception Age Early years places for Summer 2017. On Monday, October 31, the school will be closed for an in-service day and on Tuesday, November 1, staff and parents have arranged a spooktacular Halloween disco event.

East Boldon Library in Boker Lane has a weekly programme of activities and events: Tuesdays: Storytots, 10am-1030am, themed crafts for two to four years. Thursdays, 10am to 1030am. Baby Bounce for ages birth to one year with rhymes and songs. Every Friday from 10am Stan’s Age Concern computer class as well as a coffee morning and knit and natter club.

At Boldon Community Centre in New Road, Boldon Colliery, the MilonCircle Fit and Tone Gym now open daily from 9am to 9pm. On Wednesdays there is an archery class from 7pm to 9.25pm. Contact the centre on 536 8085 for more details.

The Sunshine Playgroup at the Boldon Community Centre for pre-nursery children is open from 9am to noon and 12.30pm to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Contact 536 8085 for further information.

Boldon’s History Society will meet in the function room of The Grey Horse in East Boldon on Tuesday, October 25, at 7.pm. The talk will be given by Margaret Davison on the subject My Two Great Uncles of Irish Decent in WW1.

The Pantomime Aladdin, by Every Cloud Entertainment Ltd, will be at The Quality Hotel on Boxing Day at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £9, available on 519 1999.

St Nicholas Church in West Boldon will hold an autumn tea on Saturday, November 19, from 3pm to 5.30pm in the parish hall on Rectory Bank in West Boldon. Admission by ticket, available from church members.
