The Boldon’s History Group meets tonight at 7pm in the function room of The Grey Horse in East Boldon for their festive get-together. Christine Davison will give a talk and presentation on Christmas Past followed by some festive refreshments. This is the final meeting of the year. At the first meeting in the New Year on Tuesday, January 26 at 7pm in the same venue, Larry Hetherington will give a talk and presentation about Sunderland Life Brigade. Old and new members and guests welcome.

The Boldon Miner’s and Community Banner Group will meet in The Robert’s Room of Boldon Community Association Centre in New Road, Boldon Colliery on Tuesday, December 1 at 7.30pm. The Group would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in the work of the group to join them at any of their meetings.

Pupils at Boldon School will again invite local senior citizens to a Christmas dinner which they will host. The dinner, with entertainment put on by pupils, will take place in the school on December 3.

The Boldon Targeted Youth Project, Bored in Boldon, meets in the Village Hall in North Road, Boldon Colliery on most days of the week with free activities. A Youth Club is held on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

Throughout December Santa’s Winter Wonderland with Santa and his elves returns to West Boldon Lodge Environmental Centre. Two-hour sessions will teach adults and children in the essential elf skills of toy making, spreading Christmas cheer and lots more. Contact www.westboldonlodge@groundwork.org.uk for more details.

Christmas Play dates at East Boldon Infants school will take place on Monday, December 7 at 2pm in school. Class 2 on Tuesday, December 8 at 9.30am in School. Class 6 on Thursday 10th in school at 2.pm and Class 5 on Friday, December 11 in school at 2pm. Year 2 sing- a-long will take place in St George’s Church on Monday, December 14 at 2pm.

This Saturday from 10am St Nicholas Church in West Boldon will hold its Autumn/Christmas Fair in the Parish Hall on Rectory Bank. All welcome to come along and enjoy all the usual activities and stalls including festive goods and home-baked cakes. Home-made refreshments will be on sale.

There is still time to join members and friends of St George’s Church in East Boldon on their festive trip to St Nicholas Fair and York city with an optional visit to York Designer Outlet this Friday. Coach leaves St George’s at 8.30am and the trip costs £15. Contact Joyce on 5364464 to book.

The Jarrow/Boldon Community Area Forum will meet in The Robert’s Room of the Boldon Community Association Centre in New Road this Thursday at 5pm.
