The Happy Shack Breakfast and After School Club situated in the Guides Hall on Front Street, East Boldon is open from 7.15am until 6pm, Monday to Thursday and from 7.15am– 5.30pm on Fridays. All service days are covered also half-days for children in nursery. The Club was recently rated good in a recent Ofsted report and it was awarded a Silver Stanley Award by South Tyneside Council. West Boldon Lodge is a unique education centre set within a thriving nature site and the friendly and knowledgeable staff run projects on site and across the region including family events, adult training and volunteering and school visits. An Autumn Open Day will be held on Monday 26th October which will include Autumnal arts and crafts and a chance to build your own bird box. This event is for children from ages 5 and over. A final Taster Day will be held on Tuesday 27th October. A spooky Halloween event will be held for your little monsters on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October. Children aged 6 and under will have lots of fun during the daytime sessions and older children can enjoy spookier evening sessions. To book visit

Events at St Nicholas Church in Hedworth Lane, Boldon Colliery during October include a Rock Choir Concert on Friday 9th October at 7pm. Tickets £5. Including wine and nibbles. A meal and quiz in aid of God’s Love Centre Lesotho will be held in the church on Friday 23rd October at 7pm. Tickets cost £5.

Hedworth Lane Primary School in Boldon Colliery will hold a Wear it Pink day on Friday 23rd October. Children are encouraged to wear as much pink as possible and bring a £1. Coin donation to school in aid of Cancer Awareness.

East Boldon Methodist Church on the corner of Bridle Path will hold their first and third Wednesday of the month coffee morning tomorrow from 10am. Cake stall, bring and buy, raffle and home-made refreshments.
