Cash was stolen from a Sunderland house by bogus callers.
At 1pm this afternoon police received a report cash had been stolen from an address in York Street, Silksworth.
Enquiries have been carried out and it was established two men had called at the address claiming to be fixing the roof, while one man was in the garden and distracted the occupant the second man went into the property.
Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area and appealing for any witnesses.
The appeal comes as police continue to carry out Operation Strongbow aimed at targeting bogus callers - people who call at addresses claiming to be someone they are not with the intention of stealing items from the property.
As part of the campaign police are reminding people to be on their guard to anyone who calls at the door unannounced.
