Boats moored in Sunderland hit by thieves

Thousands of pounds of equipment has been stolen from boats moored on the River Wear.

Criminals broke their way into four boats overnight at Deptford Quay in Sunderland.

Equipment stolen include: Fishing rods valued at £300; eagle fish finder £250; eagle gps colour screen grey £900; Sea radio £400; Tools £200; Navman fish finder £800; Dingy boat £100 red/white and orange in colour; fishing rods £100; replacement engine £300; gps fish finder £400; sea radio £400; four life jackets at £200; flares £100; six life jackets valued at £300.

Damage was also caused to the boats.

The thefts happened between 7.30pm on Sunday and 11.30am today.

CCTV in the area is currently being viewed by police.
