And Rovers boss Paul Lambert has heaped praise on the form of Graham, who is on loan at Ewood Park until the end of the campaign.

Tony Watt scored his first Rovers goal before Graham latched on to a quick kick downfield by goalkeeper Jason Steele to make it three goals in four games on home turf.

Lambert said: “It was brilliant piece of skill and strength from Watt for the first goal.

“He is a maverick who does things that are unexpected and gets people off their backside.

“Danny has led the line fantastically for us, he’s a brilliant lad, and we’re delighted he’s here.

“It was great thinking by Jason and a terrific finish from a lad who is bang on form.”

Graham, 30, is out of contract at the Stadium of Light in the summer and the striker had previously confirmed he has played his last game for the club.

Lambert was delighted with his side's efforts, with Rovers securing four straight home wins for the first time since Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce was in charge at Ewood Park.

"I thought we got caught with that at certain times but generally it was a huge win," added the former Aston Villa boss.

"And that's the first time in six years we've won four straight league games at home, which is incredible.

"I think the last time this club did it was under Sam Allardyce.

"Sam had a brilliant side here and, while that was in the Premier League, the lads deserve a lot of credit."

Meanwhile, Adam Matthews made his Bristol City debut in their 2-1 defeat to Wolves in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Right back Matthews, who Sunderland forked out £2million for in the summer from Celtic, has joined City on loan.

He was subbed after 69 minutes.
