A MOTORCYCLIST has died after hitting a stone wall while out on a country ride.
The 52-year-old, from the Seaham area, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in North Yorkshire on Saturday.
It happened on the A6108 Reeth to Richmond Road, about one mile outside Richmond, at about 3.30pm.
North Yorkshire Police said the man was riding in a group of three men and was heading towards the town when the crash took place.
Investigators believe it could have been caused by the man losing control as he negotiated water running across the road.
Police are appealing for people who saw the group travelling in the lead up to the tragedy as part of their inquiry in to the death.
An air ambulance was called to the scene as the emergency services tried to save the rider’s life.
