Biker dies after Sunderland A19 smash

A BIKER airlifted to hospital after a crash on the A19 in Sunderland has lost his fight for life.

The accident, involving the motorcyclist and two cars, happened on Wednesday, May 1, at the south end of Hylton Bridge.

Northumbria Police confirmed the 46-year-old man, who has not yet been named, died late yesterday afternoon in Newcastle’s RVI Hospital.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened shortly after 7pm, to contact the road safety unit on the non-emergency 101 line.
