Big issues discussed at Sunderland Minster workshop

Have your say

UNEMPLOYMENT and alcohol abuse are just two of the issues to be tackled in a workshop at Sunderland Minster this weekend.

Topics which affect the city, as well as the wider world, will be explored and discussed between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday.

Scientist Dr David Golding, an active campaigner on poverty and justice, will give a talk on Christian Action.

There will be workshops on the work of Christian Aid, issues surrounding asylum seekers and problems caused by alcohol misuse.

Organiser Fr Stephen Edmonds of St Ignatius the Martyr, Hendon, said: “This is a free and open event.

“Although organised by Anglicans in the area, it is open to people of all denominations, and also those who are just interested and inspired to find ways in which we can together try to address some of the problems we face in our communities, in our nation, and throughout the world.”

There will be several stands and stalls from charitable organisations, including secular and Christian groups who will be keen to share information with anyone who wants to get involved.
