A BIG day was held to inspire couples as they prepare for their wedding celebrations.
The Echo’s sister publication, etc magazine, teamed up with Rainton Meadows Arena to host the mammoth wedding show.
The free event had everything for brides-to-be, grooms-to-be and their families, including a selection of exhibitors ranging from wedding cake specialists and entertainment to photographers and florists.
Guests were greeted with a glass of bubbly, served by topless butlers, and given a goodie bag.
Bride-to-be Stephanie Raine, 24, who is set to marry her childhood sweetheart Martin Brown, 25, in 2015, attended with her mum and bridesmaid.
She said: “The event was really good compared to other wedding shows I’ve been to. It’s spacious, there are plenty of exhibitors and the cake samples are delicious.”
Jemma Lindsay, 28, from Houghton, owner of Dairy Lane Cakes, said: “This is only my second wedding show. I started making cakes as a hobby, and it just spiralled from there.”
A catwalk show, hosted by Elite Brides, of Sunderland, showcased the latest gown trends, while a flash mob dance surprise by Make My Day Events saw 24 dancers decked out in wedding attire as they wowed guests.
The magazine’s commercial sales manager, Chris Mace, said: “What is really nice about this wedding event is we’re working with Rainton Meadows for the first time, so there was a real eclectic mix of exhibitors. The venue has been really easy to work with.
“We had more than 60 brides through the door in the first hour, which is great.”
The next etc wedding show takes places at Rockliffe Hall, Darlington, on Sunday, September 29.
