SOME of the UK’s biggest employers are heading to Sunderland for a specialist conference held in the UK for the first time.

Taking place at the university, the two-day Maintenance Performance Measurement and Management Conference will cover areas from engineering concepts, optimisation of equipment and energy efficiency to the impact of the global recession on the maintenance industry.

Engineering academics and business leaders heading to the event include the Ministry of Defence, Sellafield Nuclear, Nissan and Northumbrian Water.

Regional companies connected to the maintenance and engineering industry will also be
supporting the conference,
setting up stalls which promote their products and services in
the North-East.

Dr David Baglee, project manager and senior lecturer in the university’s Faculty of Applied Sciences, will chair the conference.

It takes place September on 12 and 13 at the Prospect Building, Sir Tom Cowie Campus.
