An extra show has been added for Wembley in London, as well as Chicago.

It has also emerged that Sunderland AFC manager Sam Allardyce has claimed Beyoncé is a Sunderland fan in a tweet to plug the tickets in the run up to yesterday's sale.

It saw more than 100 fans queue up outside the stadium's box office after the club allowed customers to wait for the 9am start of the sale.

Just a few tickets remained yesterday afternoon and today, Sunderland AFC said it had experienced phenomenal and unprecedented demand.

The club's’s commercial director, Gary Hutchinson, said: “The level of excitement around this show is something that we haven’t witnessed in a long time.

"To sell out in under 24 hours perfectly demonstrates how popular Beyoncé is and what a coup being chosen to host the opening night of the European leg of the world tour is for us here in Sunderland."

Fans who have missed out on the ticket sale can still ensure that they get to see the show at the Stadium of Light as a very limited number of hospitality packages remain available, which guarantee a prime concert ticket.
