DARREN Bent has completed his transfer to Aston Villa.
The striker ended his 18-month stay at Sunderland when he signed a four and a half year deal with the Birmingham club late this afternoon.
It is believed the transfer fee is in the region of £18, rising with add-ons to about £24m. Villa manager Gerard Houllier has smashed the club’s transfer record to land Bent.
The striker could make his debut in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Villa Park.
The London-born player said at a press conference: “Aston Villa is a massive club. As sson as I knew they were interested in signing me I wanted to join. The size of the club and its history are major reasons for me coming here.
“I’m very excited about being part of what we hope to achieve.”
