Heather wowed the judges in taking top spot and winning her category, which was called Hollywood Glamour, at a competition held at Darlington College.

Meanwhile, Summer finished a highly credible third in the 80s Cover Girl category, which took place at Hartlepool College of Further Education.

East Durham College beauty lecturer, Julie Williams, praised the students for their impressive work in the competitions.

She said: “These two students have worked really hard this year to improve on their skills in beauty and this is a great way to round off the year for them.

“They put in a great effort over the last few months to make sure they were ready to take part in these regional competitions and then performed brilliantly under pressure on the day.

“I am really proud of what they have both achieved.”
