Everyone will agree victory over Chelsea was a rollercoaster ride of emotions but in the end we got the win we desperately needed.

The atmosphere inside the stadium was up there with the likes of the play-off semi final versus Sheffield United and any victory over Newcastle.

However, we must all do what we can to finish the job on Wednesday night. Only then can we fully relax.

A victory over an out of form Everton side (only one win since mid-March) would seal our fourth great escape in a row and also relegate Newcastle in the process.

Our destiny and the Magpie’s fate is in our hands, and that’s a good feeling to have.

However, we cannot rest and become too cocky like various Newcastle supporters and pundits did before the Villa game. They seemed to believe that all they had to do was turn up at Villa Park and the three points was theirs.

Football is not like that, it has bags of karma to throw at anyone who thinks it’s easy and it will throw up surprise after surprise. Look at Leicester City.

After Saturday’s win we have huge momentum going into the Everton game, and if we play as we can then the rewards are massive - especially with the new TV deal next season.

Sky TV have altered their programming to fit in this game, knowing the outcome could have huge effects on both North East sides.

The players know what they have to do, the supporters will do what they always do and back the team like no other supporters can.

Let’s keep everything crossed that the result we all want happens and then we can all relax and enjoy ourselves.

But not for too long, we do support Sunderland after all and another rollercoaster ride may not be too far away.
