Sing is a new group, starting on Wednesday, November 2. at Ewesley Road Methodist Church. It aims to build a chorus of children, young people and adults forming the backbone from which to develop music theatre skills. They will begin with songs that children aged seven to 12 are likely to know. However, older people will be encouraged to improve their singing skills and benefit their physical and mental health. The team leader also welcomes teenagers to explore ideas for the future. Works from The National Youth Music Theatre and Captivate Theatre, from Edinburgh Fringe, are particularly appropriate to them. The former also has summer schools in its programme. Captivate performs new works as well as classic and contemporary musicals. A visit to see young people perform at The Fringe next August would be well worth it for those seriously interested in music theatre.
