Sunderland Floral Art Club Members enjoyed a Christmas lunch at Hylton College Restaurant before the festive break.

An Open Arms Coffee Morning will be held in St Nicholas Church tomorrow at 10.30am.

The next soup lunch takes place at St Nicholas Church on Saturday, January 23, at 12.30pm. The cost will be £3 to include a choice of bread, tea or coffee and homemade cake. Everyone is welcome to go along.

Sunderland Floral Art Club’s next meeting at The Royalty Theatre will be on Tuesday, January 19, starting at 2pm. Katie-Jane Pridmore will be the guest demonstrator. The title of her demonstration will be If You Go Down To The Woods Today. The club is the oldest floral art club in the city and will be celebrating its emerald anniversary (55 years) soon. Sunderland Floral Art Club is a small, friendly club and members meet in The Royalty Theatre on the third Tuesday afternoon of the month at 2pm, so why not go along and join them? Visitors and new members are always very welcome.

St Luke’s Church coffee morning will be held on Saturday at 10am in The JB Hall. There will be coffee, tea and scones, as well as a bric-a-brac stall and raffle. All are welcome.

Burn Park Methodist Church holds a coffee morning on the third week of each month. The next one will be on Saturday, January 16, from 10am to noon. Drop in for a cuppa and a chat.

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, January 14, at 6.45pm in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. This is a free and easy night plus bingo.

Ewesley Road WI will meet in The Enid Dagg Room of the Church tomorrow at 2.15pm. This will be a members’ afternoon, when soup and a bun will be served. The stall will be recycled Christmas gifts, and the competition will be a necklace.

Sunderland Aglow next meeting is on Wednesday, January 20, at 7pm in The Rosedene. Speaker will be Bev Oliver. Meal and coffee costs £9. Bookings to Ardyn on 0191 5285953 or 07716956729.

The Vintage and Craft fair resumes at Sunderland Minster on Saturday, February 6, from 10am to 3pm. On sale will be various handmade items including greetings cards and gift bags, knitted items and jewellery. Refreshments will also be available.

Sunderland Floral Art Club has raised £85 to date from its Christmas social on December 8 to go towards the chairman’s chosen charity which is The Great North Air Ambulance.

Arthritis Care Sunderland will meet on Wednesday, February 3, from 6pm to 8pm in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. Peter McQuillan, from Oliver’s Dental Studio, will be the guest speaker.

Sunderland Ladies’ Probus Club members are going for their annual lunch to The Sea Hotel on Thursday, January 28. The coach will leave St John’s Church, Ashbrooke at 11am.

A celebration of Burns Night will take place at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street ,on Wednesday, January 27, at 6.30pm. Tickets are £5. This promises to be a great night

A ceilidh will be held at Sunderland Minster on Saturday at 7pm and will be in aid of The Sleeping Bag Fund. Tickets are £10.
