Sunderland Men’s Probus Club meets on Wednesday, November 25 in Ashbrooke Sports Pavilion. Eric Waugh is guest speaker and he will give an illustrated talk on The Settle Railway. Coffee is served from 10am and the meeting starts at 10.30am. Visitors very welcome.
A new service at St Mark’s Church on Tuesday, November 24 at 1.30pm is called Little Ripples. A fun, free worship for babies, toddlers and carers. The service lasts for about an hour, lots of time for songs and stories, time for everyone to socialise with friends and making new friends. There will be refreshments for the children and carers, too, all free.
Praise 4 All is a service held on Sunday, November 29 at 4pm and is usually held on the last Sunday of the month at St Nicholas Church. This service aims to provide a space to spend time in God’s presence through songs, hymns, prayer, ministry and testimonies. Everyone is welcome from the very young to the young at heart. Please be assured of a warm welcome, and give it a go.
Norman Kirtlan is guest speaker when Ewesley Road WI meet in The Enid Dagg Room of the Church on Wednesday, December 2 at 2.15pm. Stall will be biscuits, chocolates, sweets. Competition Christmas decoration.
St Nicholas Church hosts the annual Christmas Concert organised by, and in aid of Sunderland Mind on Saturday, December 5. The Durham Constabulary Band will also be there.
Sunderland Minster Playgroup is held every Tuesday from 9.30-11.30am. Babies and toddlers are welcome to bring their mums, dads, grandparents, and carers to join them in play and creative learning. £1.50 per child per session. Refreshments available.
A Soup Lunch is at St Nicholas Church on Saturday, November 28 at 12.30pm. The cost is £3 to include choice of soup, bread, tea/coffee and home-made cake. Everyone is welcome to go along and take family and friends.

Christmas Services start at St Gabriel’s Church on Sunday, November 29 at 10.30am, Advent Holy Communion. Celebrant and preacher the Venerable Stuart Bain. Followed on the same day at 4pm with Christingle Service, a visual family service celebrating the Christ-light in aid of the Children’s Society.
It’s Panto Time at The Royalty Theatre. Rapunzel is staged from December 10-20 (12 Performances) start 7.15pm. Matinees 12th, 13th December and 19th and 20th December at 2.15pm. Church of The Nazarene, Westbury Street has lots going on. Enjoy tea and toast on Mondays from 10-noon. This is free. All welcome. On Tuesdays Ladies Night from 7-8pm and also Mens Night from 7-9pm. Crafty Club on Wednesdays from 10-12, followed by Bible Study Class from 7.30-9.30pm. Thursdays is when toddlers meet from 10am-noon. Then on Sunday, Service 10.30-noon, Sunshine Sunday School from 12.15pm-1pm and Gospel Service at 6-7.30pm.
On the last Sunday of the month, November 29, Pallion Gospel Hall, Pallion Road holds a family service at 4pm, followed by tea.
A Cribs, Bible and Angels Exhibition will be held at Burn Park Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday, November 28 and 29 from 2-4pm, and also on Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6 from 2-4pm. Walk round the exhibition, while listening to the background music, then enjoy a cup of tea afterwards.
Call into the Christmas Market at The Chesters Pub on Tuesday, December 1 from 6-10pm. Meet Santa and his elves, free mulled wine and mince pies, over 25 stalls.
Santa’s Coffee Morning takes place at Burn Park Methodist Church on Saturday, December 5 from 10-noon. There will be coffee and mince pies, tombola, cake stall and crafts. See Santa arrive in his fire engine, then visit him in his grotto.
